Abstract

Ruddlesden–Popper-type oxysulfides Ln2Ti2O5S2 (Ln = Y, Nd) exhibit reversible lithium insertion. Nd substitution induces switching from biphasic to monophasic reaction behaviour in the low-potential region, as revealed by operando X-ray diffraction. Systematic solid-solution studies identify lattice expansion as the key parameter that switches the reaction mechanism.

Visual Abstract

Ruddlesden–Popper type oxysulfide Nd2Ti2O5S2 shows monophasic reaction upon intercalation of Li+ ions.
